The morning started bright and early at 8am as volunteers gathered in the woods of the Waterbridge Community in Carolina Forest. The Mud Run is a 3-mile course for adults and approximately 1 mile for kids, complete with 20 different obstacles, challenges and of course MUD! Over 1100 people participated in the 3rd annual event and proceeds went to SOS Health Care Autism. Shannon Furtick with gsSCENE was able to gather 15 volunteers for the event (9 of whom were LGSers) and in return, Festival Promotions donated $1,000 to the Substitutes for Santa event in December.
It was an entertaining day and we were dispersed into various locations; some helped with check-in, some were getting waivers signed, refreshments were served on the course and the rest of us were stationed at specific obstacles to give instruction and cheer on the runners. At this event, most of us logged our first official 4 hours of volunteer time and it was a great start to kick off the required 100 hours of community service!

Great write-up! This was such a fun event, if anyone would like to an LGS 34 mud run team for Spring we could have a messy and fun time!
ReplyDeleteWe should definitely make that happen!
